Peshawar Cart Bomb: One Dead, 15 Injured

PESHAWAR: A bomb planted in a horse cart exploded near a school in the Nothia area
of Peshawar on 19 Jan, 2011 Wednesday, killing one person & wounding 15 others, officials said.
Seven of the injured are children.
“The bomb was planted in a horse cart, which went off near a school building,” senior police official Mohammad Ijaz told AFP, adding that the blast took place in Peshawar city’s central Saddar neighbourhood,
Police said four to five kilogram’s of explosive material was used in the blast.
A motorbike & a rickshaw parked nearby were also damaged.
The injured have been shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital. Rescue efforts are underway & the police have cordoned off the area & started investigations.
The northwestern province of the country has seen much violence in the recent past. On Monday, at least 13 people were killed & five injured when a bomb exploded in a public transport van in Hangu.
